BOOKING & CONSULTATIONS

1. How do I book an appointment?

All bookings are handled through our online booking form.
Clients across Boston, Massachusetts, and New England can submit their idea, placement, size, and preferred dates. We will follow up with availability and pricing based on the details provided.

Yes — limited walk-ins are accepted when an artist is available.

J7 Tattoo primarily operates by appointment due to the level of detail and preparation required for our work. Walk-ins are typically suitable for small tattoos only.

For Black & Grey Realism, portraits, or large-scale projects, an appointment is required.
For fastest confirmation, please contact the studio before coming in.
To guarantee availability, we strongly recommend using our online booking form.

DMs are not reliable for managing project details or scheduling.
Our booking form ensures all information is organized, accurate, and easy to reference — especially for clients traveling from Boston and throughout New England.

Most projects can be handled online.
If an in-person consultation is needed, we will let you know.

Deposits are non-refundable and applied toward your final total.

DESIGN & PREPARATION

9. When will I see my design?

Designs are typically finalized on the day of your appointment.
We review the design together and make adjustments as needed.

Yes — reference images are welcome.
We do not copy existing tattoos. All work is custom and designed specifically for you.

  • Get good rest
  • Eat a full meal
  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours
  • Stay hydrated
  • Moisturize the area for several days prior

These steps help your skin receive ink better.

Wear clothing that comfortably exposes the tattoo area and allows you to relax during the session.

13. How long does a realism tattoo take?

Approximate time ranges:

  • Small: 3–5 hours
  • Medium: 5–8 hours
  • Large: 8–12+ hours
  • Half sleeve: 12–20 hours
  • Full sleeve: 25–40 hours

Realism requires patience and precision to achieve the level of detail our clients expect.

Small and medium tattoos sometimes can.
Large-scale realism projects usually require multiple sessions for the best results.

Pain levels vary depending on placement and individual tolerance.
Realism focuses more on smooth shading rather than aggressive line work.

AFTERCARE & HEALING

16. How do I take care of my tattoo?

General guidelines:

  • Keep the tattoo clean and lightly moisturized
  • Do not scratch or peel
  • Avoid soaking
  • Avoid direct sun exposure
  • Follow the detailed aftercare instructions provided after your session
  • Surface healing: approximately 1–2 weeks
  • Full internal healing: 4–6 weeks

Touch-ups are evaluated case-by-case after the tattoo is fully healed.
Healing issues caused by improper aftercare may not qualify for a touch-up.

SAFETY & STUDIO POLICIES

19. What is your age requirement?

Clients must be 18 years or older with valid government-issued ID.

To maintain focus and a professional environment, we ask clients to come alone unless otherwise approved.

Please notify us as soon as possible.
Arriving more than 20 minutes late may require rescheduling.

Rescheduling requires advance notice.
Deposits may be transferred to a new date at the studio’s discretion.
